Isis Pharmaceuticals

Isis is an industry leader in drug discovery and development. The Company’s central focus is to advance antisense core chemistry to generate pharmacologically improved antisense drugs. Isis’s proprietary 2’-methoxyethyl (2’MOE) chemistry improves therapeutic parameters of antisense drugs. Capitalizing on this, FOLIGO is working in collaboration with Isis to co-develop FOLIGO 002, an MOE-modified antisense drug for treatment of ovarian cancer. Initial developmental milestones are being accomplished under a FOLIGO/Isis Material Transfer Agreement. Long-term milestones will further require a FOLIGO/Isis in-licensing arrangement, in addition to an appropriate out-licensing partner.

University of Maryland

FOLIGO is conducting collaborative studies with the laboratory of Dr. William E. Bentley at the University of Maryland, College Park. The FOLIGO/Bentley collaboration is investigating 1) the molecular signaling pathways involved with FOLIGO 002-mediated death of cancer cells and 2) the effect of FOLIGO 002 in ovarian cancer animal models. The FOLIGO/University of Maryland collaboration is supported by the Maryland Industrial Partnership (MIPs) program and by donations through the University of Maryland Foundation, College Park.
